Job Title: Project Portfolio Lead

Thompson Rivers University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Portfolio Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Project Management Office, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and implement project plans, including stakeholder identification, risk management, and communication plans.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to senior management and executives on project implementation and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain complex working relationships across business area boundaries to ensure project success.
  • Estimate resources and participants needed to achieve project goals and develop budget proposals.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Work with PMO Management to develop Portfolio, Program, and Strategic Plans in alignment with the organization's business and long-term strategic plan.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in a discipline related to project management.
  • Formal Project Management Certification (e.g., PRINCE2, etc.).
  • Agile certification (e.g., PMI-ACP certified and/or Certified Scrum Master, etc.) is considered an asset.
  • Change management certification (e.g., Prosci-ADKAR) is considered an asset.
  • Five to seven years of experience in a project management environment.
  • Experience delivering technology initiatives, including the implementation or operation of custom, COTS, or SaaS applications.
  • Experience working with Agile principles and practices (e.g., SCRUM).
  • Experience working with Change Management methodologies (e.g., Prosci-ADKAR).
  • Experience leading projects to comply with legislative or mandated rule changes.
  • Experience working both independently and in a collaborative environment is essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of agile and traditional project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Azure Board, Planner, Project for the Web, Jira, etc.).
  • Strategic and analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate business requirements into functional scope and specifications.
