Job Summary

Thompson Rivers University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Portfolio Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Project Management Office, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project Planning and Execution

Develop and implement project plans, including stakeholder identification, release planning, work plans, schedules, sprint backlogs, sprint planning, quality plans, risk management plans, communication plans, and change control plans.

Project Leadership and Management

Lead cross-functional activities, engage multiple stakeholders, and mitigate risk to achieve project deliverables and milestones.

Project Monitoring and Control

Monitor and analyze planned versus actual project information for scope, schedule, budgets, and resources.

Project Closure and Lessons Learned

Conduct project closeout activities, including compiling and providing closeout reports, gathering lessons learned, and creating recommendations reports to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.

Requirements
  • Education

Undergraduate degree in a discipline related to project management, such as computing science, social science, or business.

Certifications

Formal Project Management Certification, such as PRINCE2, and Agile certification, such as PMI-ACP or Certified Scrum Master.

Experience

Five to seven years of experience in a project management environment, with a focus on technology initiatives and Agile principles.

Skills

Strong working knowledge of project management tools and software, such as MS Project, Azure Board, and Jira. Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and demands.
