Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Portfolio Lead to join our team at Thompson Rivers University. As a key member of our Project Management Office, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage and lead project teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  2. Develop and implement project plans, including stakeholder identification, risk management, and communication plans.
  3. Provide strategic advice and guidance to senior management and executives on project implementation and outcomes.
  4. Build and maintain complex working relationships across business areas to ensure project plans meet business goals and objectives.
  5. Estimate resources and participants needed to achieve project goals and develop budget proposals.
  6. Closely monitor and analyze project progress, identifying and mitigating risks, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  7. Develop and implement best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  8. Collaborate with PMO Management to develop Portfolio, Program, and Strategic Plans in alignment with the organization's business and long-term strategic plan.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in a discipline related to project management.
  • Formal Project Management Certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
  • Agile certification (e.g., PMI-ACP, Certified Scrum Master) is considered an asset.
  • Change management certification (e.g., Prosci-ADKAR) is considered an asset.
  • Five to seven years of experience in a project management environment.
  • Experience delivering technology initiatives, including implementation or operation of custom, COTS, or SaaS applications.
  • Experience working with Agile principles and practices (e.g., SCRUM).
  • Experience working with Change Management methodologies (e.g., Prosci-ADKAR).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into functional scope and specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and demands.
