Radiopharmacy Specialist

The Radiopharmacy Specialist plays a critical role in the production of radioisotopes using the TR24 and TR19 cyclotrons at the Medical Isotope and Cyclotron Facility and the Cross Cancer Institute. Key responsibilities include operating and maintaining cyclotron and automatic synthesis unit equipment, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and ensuring the quality and safety of radiopharmaceuticals. The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a team to meet the demands of the cyclotron schedule and radiation damage to components. This position requires advanced knowledge of cyclotron operation and a proactive approach to maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate and maintain cyclotron and automatic synthesis unit equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment and instrumentation
- Ensure the quality and safety of radiopharmaceuticals
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet the demands of the cyclotron schedule
- Develop and write Standard Operating Procedures
The successful candidate will have a degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Chemical Technology, or a related field, and a valid driver's license. They must be capable of manipulating and carrying moderately heavy lead and other radioactive shielding and shipping containers. A Bachelor of Science or equivalent level of education and experience is also required. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with mechanical and electronic equipment, as well as radiation and/or radiation-emitting devices.
