Your Opportunity:

The Radiopharmacy Specialist plays a critical role in the production of radioisotopes at the Medical Isotope and Cyclotron Facility and the Cross Cancer Institute. This position supports the cyclotron operation, synthesizes radiopharmaceuticals, and ensures quality assurance activities are performed. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting and fixing problems with the cyclotron and its sub-systems, as well as performing proactive maintenance to ensure uninterrupted isotope supply. The position requires advanced knowledge of cyclotron operation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and dispense radiopharmaceuticals from commercial kits and raw materials
  • Assist in the use and maintenance of scientific equipment and instrumentation
  • Develop and write Standard Operating Procedures
  • Check supply inventory and prepare radiopharmaceutical kit production
  • Assist in the packaging and transportation of radiopharmaceuticals

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Chemical Technology, or a health sciences degree from a recognized institution
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • Ability to manipulate and carry moderately heavy lead and other radioactive shielding and shipping containers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent level of education and experience
  • Comfortable working with mechanical and electronic equipment, as well as radiation and/or radiation-emitting devices
