Edmonton, Canada Alberta Health Services Full time
Your Opportunity:

The position supports the cyclotron production of radioisotopes using the TR24 and TR19 cyclotrons located at the Medical Isotope and Cyclotron Facility and the Cross Cancer Institute. Responsibilities may also include aspects of the synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals, quality assurance activities, record keeping, dispensing of radionuclides, shipping/receiving, and relief for associated activities in the area. The position must understand cyclotron and automatic synthesis unit operation and be knowledgeable in all aspects of the various sub-systems of this instrumentation to troubleshoot and fix problems as they occur. Proactive maintenance is critical to provide uninterrupted isotope supply given the demanding schedule of the cyclotron and the continual radiation damage to cyclotron components. The position will often work without supervision. The majority of the work will be clearly defined and relatively routine; however, new problems that are encountered require an advanced knowledge of cyclotron operation. The position is responsible for getting the cyclotron up and running and is pivotal to its operation. The position will be part of a shift rotation covering nighttime (1:00 AM – 9:15 AM) and daytime (7:00 AM – 3:15 PM) cyclotron operation.
