Job Summary:

The City of Delta is seeking a skilled Building Service Worker to join our team in auxiliary roles at various facilities in North Delta, Ladner, and Tsawwassen. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our employees, visitors, and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks, including vacuuming, sweeping, washing, waxing, and polishing floors and related areas.
  • Wash and clean windows, doors, shelves, walls, and surfaces to ensure a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Wash hand basins, sinks, and toilets, and replenish washroom supplies to maintain a clean and well-stocked facility.
  • Collect and dispose of refuse and recycling in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner.
  • Ensure building security by monitoring and reporting any incidents or concerns, and providing routing information and assistance to the public as required.

Requirements:

  • Building Service Worker Certificate
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia
  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in janitorial work
  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with internal and external contacts
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting
