About the Position


Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an Orthotic Care Graduate Practitioner. This role is designed for recent graduates from accredited orthotic programs, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive clinical environment.

Role Overview


As a clinical resident, you will work under the guidance of a Certified Clinician, contributing to the delivery of orthotic services for both inpatient and outpatient populations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the evaluation and treatment planning for patients requiring orthotic interventions.
  • Learning to design, fabricate, and implement custom orthoses tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary health care team to enhance patient mobility and physical function.

Qualifications


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A two-year diploma from an OPC accredited Prosthetic/Orthotic Clinical Program, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Registration with Orthotics Prosthetics Canada for residency.
  • Experience in working with patients with physical or cognitive challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to manage diverse caseloads effectively.
  • High manual dexterity and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of privacy regulations and infection control protocols.
  • Competency in additional languages is advantageous, with a preference for French.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to various health sites within the province.

Work Schedule


This is a full-time position, requiring 75 hours bi-weekly, with an expected duration of approximately 24 months.

Compensation


The hourly wage for this position is $32.09. Successful candidates may also qualify for a signing bonus and relocation assistance under specific conditions.
