Clinical Orthotics Resident

About the Position
Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an Orthotic Care Graduate Practitioner. This role is designed for recent graduates from accredited orthotic programs, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive clinical environment.
Role Overview
As a clinical resident, you will work under the guidance of a Certified Clinician, contributing to the delivery of orthotic services for both inpatient and outpatient populations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the evaluation and treatment planning for patients requiring orthotic interventions.
- Learning to design, fabricate, and implement custom orthoses tailored to individual patient needs.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary health care team to enhance patient mobility and physical function.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A two-year diploma from an OPC accredited Prosthetic/Orthotic Clinical Program, or equivalent practical experience.
- Registration with Orthotics Prosthetics Canada for residency.
- Experience in working with patients with physical or cognitive challenges.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to manage diverse caseloads effectively.
- High manual dexterity and problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of privacy regulations and infection control protocols.
- Competency in additional languages is advantageous, with a preference for French.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to various health sites within the province.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position, requiring 75 hours bi-weekly, with an expected duration of approximately 24 months.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this position is $32.09. Successful candidates may also qualify for a signing bonus and relocation assistance under specific conditions.
