Orthotic Care Clinician Trainee

About the Role
As a member of the clinical health team, the Orthotic Care Clinician Trainee will work under the guidance of a Certified Clinician. This position is designed for recent graduates from an accredited Prosthetic/Orthotic Clinical Program. The trainee will engage in providing orthotic services to both inpatients and outpatients, focusing on enhancing patient mobility and physical function through individualized orthotic solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the evaluation and treatment planning for patients requiring orthotic interventions.
- Assist in the design, custom fabrication, and implementation of orthoses.
- Collaborate with an inter-professional health care team to support patient goals.
- Maintain a commitment to learning and professional development under supervision.
Qualifications
- Completion of a two-year diploma from an OPC accredited Prosthetic/Orthotic Clinical Program; relevant practical experience may be considered.
- Registration with Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (OPC) for residency is required.
- Experience with patients facing physical or cognitive challenges is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to manage diverse caseloads effectively.
- Proficient manual dexterity and problem-solving capabilities.
- Understanding of privacy, confidentiality, and infection control protocols.
- Competency in additional languages is an asset, with a preference for French.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to various health sites as needed.
Work Schedule
- This is a full-time position, requiring 75 hours bi-weekly.
- The duration of the assignment is approximately 24 months.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this position is $32.09. Additional incentives may be available, including signing bonuses and relocation assistance, contingent upon a defined Return of Service agreement.
