Position Overview

The role of the instructor involves the management and in-person instruction of a course focused on Energy Production and Utilization. The part-time academic will oversee all facets of teaching and administering the course, which includes delivering lectures, conducting laboratory sessions, facilitating tutorials, preparing assessments, and evaluating student performance. Additionally, the instructor will be expected to engage with students through both virtual and in-person office hours. This position is accountable to the Department Chair and is subject to adequate enrollment.

Course Structure

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the energy system, emphasizing key characteristics of energy. It addresses the assessment, management, and remediation of energy production as a critical global challenge that affects various sectors, including business, industry, and future infrastructure development. The curriculum encompasses an introduction to the energy supply chain, transmission and distribution networks, energy consumption, energy policy, environmental considerations, and generation methods. Furthermore, it includes an examination of renewable energy assessment methodologies and feasibility analysis tools.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Agricultural Sciences or a related discipline. A robust background and enthusiasm for teaching, along with effective communication skills, are essential. Experience in university-level instruction and familiarity with a learning management system are advantageous, particularly with Brightspace, which is utilized by Dalhousie University.

Compensation

Salary will be determined in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.
