Position Overview

Course Title: Communications Technology
Institution: Dalhousie University

The role involves the management and direct instruction of the Communications Technology course on the Truro campus. The part-time instructor will oversee all facets of course delivery, including lectures, practical labs, and tutorial sessions. Additionally, the instructor will be responsible for preparing assessments and providing evaluations. Engaging with students through both virtual and face-to-face office hours is a requirement of this position.

Course Structure

This course is designed for adult learners pursuing a Certificate in Technology Education. The curriculum will cover essential topics in computer-related communications technology, including:

  • Desktop Publishing
  • Digital Photography and Image Editing
  • Video Production
  • Web Design
  • Presentation Software

Supplementary classes in graphic design and screen printing may also be offered as time permits, with a focus on practical production techniques and personalized design projects.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a graduate degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Graphic Design, or a related field. A strong passion for teaching, particularly with adult learners, is essential, along with excellent communication skills. Familiarity with the Nova Scotia Technology Education curriculum is advantageous. Experience with the Brightspace learning management system is also beneficial.

Compensation

Salary will be determined in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.
