About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Orthotic Technician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide technical expertise in the evaluation, treatment planning, and fabrication of assistive devices, primarily orthoses, to enhance patient mobility and/or physical function.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our inter-professional healthcare team to provide optimal care and assist patients in achieving their orthotic goals. You will work closely with certified clinicians to ensure the quality and integrity of orthoses provided to patients meet their physical and functional needs.

We are looking for a professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who can effectively work with patients, families, and the healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, computer skills, and a high level of manual dexterity.

The Registered Orthotic Technician will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical expertise in the evaluation, treatment planning, and fabrication of assistive devices
  • Working collaboratively with the inter-professional healthcare team to provide optimal care
  • Ensuring the quality and integrity of orthoses provided to patients
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
  • Providing high-quality care to patients
About You

We are looking for a professional with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Registration in good standing with Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (annual renewal)
  • Minimum of two years' experience (Technical Internship is considered experience)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and computer skills
  • High level of manual dexterity
  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements and infection control procedures
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours and Compensation

The successful candidate will work 75 hours bi-weekly and will be compensated at a rate of $36.54 hourly. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and up to $5,000 of relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
