Licensed Orthotic Specialist

As a vital member of the multi-disciplinary team, the Certified Orthotist plays a crucial role in delivering a wide array of clinical interventions for both pediatric and adult patients. This position demands a high level of expertise in clinical decision-making, creativity, and interpersonal communication, alongside a commitment to professional growth.
The Certified Orthotist will provide clinical guidance, especially in complex cases, utilizing their knowledge, skills, and judgment to ensure competent, evidence-based care. The dynamic nature of this role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to address challenging clinical scenarios.
Additionally, the Certified Orthotist is responsible for mentoring students and colleagues, serving as a preceptor, and providing ongoing support. Attendance at clinics, rounds, conferences, and meetings is required, along with the supervision and evaluation of students and/or technicians.
The Orthotist may also be expected to deliver services across the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio, which operates on a seven-day service model.
QualificationsWe invite candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- Certification as a Certified Orthotist from Orthotics Prosthetics Canada
- A minimum of three years of professional experience, preferably in a hospital environment
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and work autonomously
- Exceptional communication, observational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to function effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong analytical skills to assess data and identify treatment needs with a patient-centered focus
- Knowledge of privacy legislation and a commitment to safeguarding personal health information
- Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with French being preferred

Work ScheduleThis is a permanent, full-time position requiring 75 hours bi-weekly.
Compensation and BenefitsThe hourly wage for this position is $44.23.
Successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, in addition to a defined benefit pension plan.
There may also be opportunities for a signing bonus and relocation assistance, contingent upon a defined Return of Service contract.
