About the Role

MNP is seeking a skilled Tax Consultant to join our Property Tax Services team. As a trusted advisor, you will work with clients to ensure they are utilizing all available programs and incentives to maximize tax recovery potential on real estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct real estate market studies and property analysis to determine valuation conclusions
  • Present evidence at the Assessment Review Board
  • Liaise with municipalities, real estate brokers, developers, landlords, and tenants to collect information for annual real estate value determinations
  • Execute audit procedures to ensure clients are fairly assessed
  • Collect and update client information through income/expense statements and rent rolls
  • Prepare client reporting and valuation reports for boards and municipalities
  • Support the design and development of high-quality deliverables, including proposals, engagement letters, reports, presentations, and correspondence
  • Collaborate with the client engagement team
  • Maintain flexibility to travel as necessary

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in real property valuation, property assessment, real estate, urban studies, economics, finance, or law
  • Ability to learn current assessment legislation and impacts on taxation of various property types
  • Three to five years of related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong research skills and familiar with standard valuation methodologies and/or taxation principles
