The Corporate Tax Manager at FBC Farm and Small Business Tax Consultants plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless preparation of financial statements and corporate tax returns. This position requires a high level of expertise in taxation, financial analysis, and team management.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the Corporate Tax Manager East to ensure consistency of processes and product quality nationally.
- Oversee the West Corporate Tax Team and activities, including the preparation of financial statements and corporate tax returns.
- Track Corporate Tax metrics, including turn-around times, processing stats, and service quality.
- Take action to deliver exceptional service and stay on plan.
- Coordinate processing of financial statements/corporate tax returns with local offices.
- Ensure accuracy and quality standards.
- Engage, delegate to, develop, coach, and manage the team and branch staff involved to ensure quality and productivity goals are achieved.
- Troubleshoot errors and collaborate with other departments to resolve them.
- Maintain expert knowledge of Corporate Tax Returns, Personal Tax Returns, including all software applications.
- Maintain strong knowledge of bookkeeping, financial statements, and corporate tax returns.
- Continuously look for ways to improve standards and processes.
- Strive to be knowledgeable about issues, policies, practices, and trends.
- Assist Operations staff with technical issues.
- Assist with the West Corporate Tax team's day-to-day tasks.
- Collaborate with branch team leaders to meet quality standards and turn-around times.
- A post-secondary diploma in accounting, tax, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Strong working knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of Taxprep software.
- Previous experience in bookkeeping, financial statements, and corporate tax returns.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in the Income Tax/Accounting Service, would be considered an asset.
- Strong communication, written, and verbal skills.
- Proficient at building relationships.
- A professional demeanor – skilled at establishing trust and rapport.
- Possess strong bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and Corporate/Personal tax knowledge.
- Able to review and understand financial statements and bookkeeping records.
- Familiar with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requirements, guidelines, and services.
- Able to review and interpret tax returns and related documents.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized.
- Proficient at prioritizing and managing work and capable of adapting to shifting demands.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office.
- Researching skills on tax-related matters.
- Able to troubleshoot and problem-solve as necessary.
- Maximize the effectiveness of the team through onboarding, training, and development, and performance management.
- Maintain and enforce product and service quality standards.
- Proactively communicate and develop trusted relationships with clients and branch teams.
