Accounting Manager

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team at Westerner Park. As an Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for leading our accounting team and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Provide regular financial reports to senior management, highlighting key trends and areas for improvement.
- Coordinate and facilitate external audits, ensuring all audit requirements are met and our financial statements are presented in a transparent and accurate manner.
- Assist in developing annual budgets with department managers and senior management, ensuring our financial plans are aligned with our business objectives.
- Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis and explanations, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for cost savings.
- Assist in the creation of financial forecasts and projections to support business planning and strategy, ensuring our financial plans are realistic and achievable.
- Stay informed about changes in relevant accounting regulations and ensure our financial reporting is compliant with all applicable laws and standards.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity, reducing the risk of errors and irregularities.
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines, and minimizing the risk of penalties and fines.
- Supervise and guide accounting staff, providing training and feedback to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their roles effectively.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting open communication and teamwork among our accounting team members.
- Delegate tasks to ensure efficient team operation, ensuring our accounting team is well-organized and productive.
- Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions, providing insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial performance metrics and trends.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate the financial impact of proposed projects or initiatives, ensuring our business decisions are informed by accurate and reliable financial data.
- Develop and maintain financial models and tools to support business planning and decision-making, ensuring our financial data is accurate, reliable, and easily accessible.
- Review and improve accounting systems and processes, ensuring they are efficient, effective, and aligned with our business objectives.
- Lead efforts to implement new tools or processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs, ensuring our accounting team is well-equipped to perform their roles effectively.
- Continuously evaluate internal controls to reduce risks and improve accuracy, ensuring our financial reporting is transparent and reliable.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proven competency with accounting software, preferably SAGE.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft 365.
- Demonstrated knowledge of accepted accounting rules, laws, and reporting requirements, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- Proven skills in critical thinking, analysis, and reasoning.
- Ability to adapt and commit to additional hours as required to support operations during peak times.
