Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team at Westerner Park. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for leading our accounting team and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting
    • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    • Provide regular financial reports to senior management, highlighting key trends and areas for improvement.
    • Coordinate and facilitate external audits, ensuring all audit requirements are met and our financial statements are presented in a clear and transparent manner.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
    • Assist in developing annual budgets with department managers and senior management, ensuring our financial plans are aligned with our business objectives.
    • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis and explanations, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for cost savings.
    • Assist in the creation of financial forecasts and projections to support business planning and strategy, ensuring our financial plans are realistic and achievable.
  • Compliance and Regulatory
    • Stay informed about changes in relevant accounting regulations and ensure our financial reporting is compliant with all applicable laws and standards.
    • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity, reducing the risk of errors and irregularities.
    • Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Supervise and guide accounting staff, providing training and feedback to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their roles effectively.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, encouraging open communication and teamwork among our accounting team members.
    • Delegate tasks to ensure efficient team operation, prioritizing tasks and allocating resources to meet deadlines and achieve our financial objectives.
  • Financial Analysis and Decision Support
    • Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions, providing insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial performance metrics and trends.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate the financial impact of proposed projects or initiatives, ensuring our financial plans are aligned with our business objectives.
  • Systems and Process Improvement
    • Review and improve accounting systems and processes, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for cost savings.
    • Lead efforts to implement new tools or processes to increase efficiency, ensuring our financial reporting is accurate and timely.
    • Continuously evaluate internal controls to reduce risks and improve accuracy, ensuring our financial reporting is reliable and trustworthy.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role, with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams.
  • Proven competency with accounting software, preferably SAGE.
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft 365.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accepted accounting rules, laws, and reporting requirements, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Proven skills in critical thinking, analysis, and reasoning, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Ability to adapt and commit to additional hours as required to support operations during peak times.
