Course Overview and Responsibilities

This course will involve a comprehensive review of contemporary literature in molecular biology and genetics, with a particular focus on the influence of host-associated microbiomes on health and fitness. The curriculum will cover the factors that shape the taxonomic and functional diversity of these microbiomes, as well as the mechanisms that regulate their composition. Students will investigate the interactions between hosts and their microbiomes, utilizing molecular biology techniques to explore these relationships. The format will include a mix of lectures and student-led presentations on selected topics.

Qualifications Required

  • PhD in Biology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in current molecular biology concepts, particularly regarding host-microbiome interactions; prior teaching experience in these subjects is advantageous.
