Genomic Bioinformatician

Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Genomic Bioinformatician to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory, you will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and integrating large-scale gene sequence data.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement pipelines to align, normalize, visualize, and analyze data
- Integrate data and results with internal and external applications and databases
- Collaborate with members of the Hamilton Regional Genetics Program and other key partners
- Stay up-to-date with new and emerging technologies and literature in high-throughput genomic analysis
- Conduct literature reviews and develop pipelines for processing next-generation sequencing data
- Establish and maintain a secure and effective server system for data processing
- Liaise with laboratory scientists to submit variant classification data to appropriate databases
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to software used for detecting and interpreting sequence and copy number variants
- Master's Degree or Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computer science, or molecular biology and genetics
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, C++, and Java
- Experience working with next-generation sequencing data and developing NGS bioinformatics pipelines
- Experience with full-stack development, databases, frameworks, and APIs
- Experience with relevant public databases and data cleaning, normalization, and visualization methods
- Experience working with SNP-microarray analysis and epigenomic data analysis
- Familiarity with statistical genomics and ACMG/AMP/ASCO/CAP guidelines for variant annotation and classification
