The Opportunity:


As a key member of the Maple Leaf Foods team, the HR Manager will play a critical role in shaping the company's human resources strategy and driving business results. Reporting to the Corporate HR Manager-Operations, this leader will lead and influence HR activities at the Edmonton manufacturing facility, ensuring that HR planning and results are aligned with business needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human resources, with a proven track record of managing labor relations, performance management, and employee development. They will be passionate about coaching, mentoring, and developing people to achieve positions of greater responsibility, and will possess excellent business and operational acumen, particularly within manufacturing and/or food processing.

This role requires a results-oriented individual who can work as part of a functional team, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be able to make procedural decisions and judgments involving sensitive and confidential issues under stressful conditions, and will have advanced skills with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems, including SAP.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the Human Resources function to ensure alignment with plant operational strategy

• Provide advice and guidance on labor relations matters, including grievance/dispute resolution, interpretation and application of the CBA, and disciplinary matters

• Ensure tracking and monitoring of HR Key Performance Indicators, such as Attendance, Turnover, and Retention

• Facilitate execution of plant operations and corporate programs, including succession planning, orientation, and PAD and DAP planning

• Prepare and administer the HR budget, ensuring effective control and spending within budget

Requirements:

• Post-secondary degree with a concentration in Human Resources, Commerce, or Business Administration

• CPHR designation preferred

• Minimum eight to ten years previous related experience, with at least three years' management experience within a unionized manufacturing environment

• Strong business and operational acumen, particularly within manufacturing and/or food processing

• Demonstrated initiative, drive, and leadership; excellent communication skills
