Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Providence Health Care. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with addiction-related issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and respectful nursing care to patients, according to established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct head-to-toe assessments, monitor and recognize abnormal signs or symptoms, and communicate with the RN/RPN as needed.
  • Support and partner with the RN/RPN in the care of patients with complex or unpredictable outcomes.
  • Communicate with physicians regarding patient care and carry out verbal and/or written orders as required.
  • Document care provided, including assessments, status, progress, treatments, changes in condition, medications administered, and discharge planning.
  • Administer medications, including narcotics, according to established procedures, and monitor medication effects.
  • Respond to incidents such as Codes, injuries or falls, hazardous spills, aggressive behavior, and fire alarms, and report incidents according to established procedures.
  • Assist with the orientation of new staff and student preceptors by demonstrating work procedures, proper use/location of equipment, sharing clinical knowledge, using effective communication, and acting as a positive role model.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
  • Current basic cardiac life support certification.
  • One year recent, related experience in providing addiction services in a healthcare setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
