We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residence Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals in our program.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and plan for individuals in the program, documenting and implementing program evaluation.
- Provide life skills training, including meal preparation, housekeeping, personal care skills, and personal finance, and implement personal service plans.
- Assist with activities of daily living, such as hygiene, grooming, and toileting.
- Participate in various activities in accordance with care plans.
- Recognize, analyze, and deal with potential emergency situations, such as aggressive behavior, according to the PS Behaviour Safety Plan.
- Administer medication according to established policy, protocols, and procedures.
- Assist with case management by identifying potential problems and reporting any difficulties.
- Provide emotional support and feedback to individuals and their families.
- Transport and assist individuals to attend appointments, shopping, or leisure activities, operating motor vehicles safely and legally.
- Perform residential maintenance and housekeeping duties, including laundry, sweeping, mopping floors, mowing lawns, inventory, shopping, cleaning equipment, and food services.
- Maintain reports, such as statistics, logs, and daily activities, relating to individuals.
- Utilize practices that promote health, welfare, safety, and security of individuals.
- A diploma or degree in one of the humanities, social work, or a related field, or other combinations of education and experience.
- Minimum of one year recent related experience in child and youth care, or a combination of relevant education and experience, in a community-based setting.
- Valid BC Driver's License and clean driver's abstract with a reliable, safe vehicle that has appropriate insurance.
- Valid CPR/First Aid, WHMIS, and Food Hygiene and Sanitation certificates, or ability to obtain within the probation period.
- Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate and/or MANDT and Conflict Resolution Certificate, or ability to obtain within the probation period.
- Physician's note confirming suitability, including immunization records and a negative tuberculosis screening test.
- Positive behavior supports experience.
