Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residence Worker with Overnight Awake Scheduling to join our team at WJS Canada. As a key member of our residential care team, you will provide support and care to individuals with complex needs, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Planning: Collaborate with the team to assess and plan for individuals in our program, documenting and implementing program evaluations.
  • Life Skills Training: Provide training in meal preparation, housekeeping, personal care skills, and personal finance, implementing personal service plans.
  • Activities of Daily Living: Assist with activities such as hygiene, grooming, and toileting, ensuring the individual's dignity and comfort.
  • Emergency Response: Recognize, analyze, and respond to potential emergency situations, such as aggressive behavior, in accordance with established protocols.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medication to individuals in accordance with established policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Case Management: Identify potential problems and report any difficulties, providing emotional support and feedback to individuals and their families.
  • Transportation: Transport individuals to appointments, shopping, or leisure activities, ensuring safe and legal transportation.
  • Residential Maintenance: Perform maintenance and housekeeping duties, such as laundry, sweeping, mopping floors, and inventory management.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate reports, including statistics, logs, and daily activities, relating to individuals in our care.
  • Health and Safety: Utilize practices that promote the health, welfare, safety, and security of individuals in our care.
Requirements
  • Education: Diploma or degree in a related field, such as humanities, social work, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years recent related experience in child and youth care, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Skills: Valid BC Driver's License, clean driver's abstract, and reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance.
  • Certifications: Valid CPR/First Aid, WHMIS, and Food Hygiene and Sanitation certificates, Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate, and/or MANDT and Conflict Resolution Certificate.
