Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residence Worker with Overnight Awake Scheduling to join our team at WJS Canada. As a key member of our residential care team, you will provide exceptional support to individuals in our care, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and plan for individuals in our program, documenting and implementing program evaluations.
  • Provide life skills training, including meal preparation, housekeeping, personal care skills, and personal finance, and implement personal service plans.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, such as hygiene, grooming, and toileting, and participate in PS-focused activities in accordance with care plans.
  • Recognize, analyze, and respond to potential emergency situations, such as PS aggressive behavior, in accordance with PS Behaviour Safety Plan.
  • Administer medication to PS in accordance with established policy, protocols, and procedures.
  • Assist with case management by identifying potential problems and reporting any difficulties.
  • Provide emotional support and feedback to PS and their families.
  • Transport and assist PS to attend appointments, shopping, or leisure activities, and operate motor vehicles safely and legally while transporting PS or on WJS business.
  • Perform residential maintenance and housekeeping duties, such as laundry, sweeping, mopping floors, mowing lawns, inventory, shopping, cleaning equipment, and food services.
  • Maintain reports, such as statistics, logs, and daily activities, relating to PS.
  • Utilize practices that promote health, welfare, safety, and security of persons served.
Requirements
  • A diploma or degree in one of the humanities, social work, or a related field, or other combinations of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years recent related experience in child and youth care, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Previous experience with operating a licensed home and trauma-informed practice.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and clean driver's abstract with a reliable, safe vehicle that has appropriate insurance.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid CPR/First Aid, WHMIS, and Food Hygiene and Sanitation certificates, or ability to obtain within probation period.
  • Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate and/or MANDT and Conflict Resolution Certificate, or ability to obtain within probation period.
  • Physician's note confirming suitability, including immunization records and a negative tuberculosis screening test.
  • Positive behavior supports experience.

Successful applicants will be required to participate in MCFD screening prior to confirmed employment with WJS Canada. WJS adheres to provincial/legislated communicable disease prevention protocols. Some of our community healthcare providers/stakeholders may require WJS employees to be vaccinated in order to enter establishments while supporting WJS individuals/clients in service.
