Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residence Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals in our program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and plan for individuals in the program, documenting and implementing program evaluation.
  • Provide life skills training, including meal preparation, housekeeping, personal care skills, and personal finance, and implement personal service plans.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, such as hygiene, grooming, and toileting.
  • Participate in various activities in accordance with care plans.
  • Recognize, analyze, and deal with potential emergency situations, such as aggressive behavior, according to the PS Behaviour Safety Plan.
  • Administer medication according to established policy, protocols, and procedures.
  • Assist with case management by identifying potential problems and reporting any difficulties.
  • Provide emotional support and feedback to individuals and their families.
  • Transport and assist individuals to attend appointments, shopping, or leisure activities.
  • Perform residential maintenance and housekeeping duties, such as laundry, sweeping, mopping floors, mowing lawns, inventory, shopping, cleaning equipment, and food services.
  • Maintain reports, such as statistics, logs, and daily activities relating to individuals.
  • Utilize practices that promote health, welfare, safety, and security of individuals served.
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in one of the humanities, social work, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years recent related experience in child and youth care, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Previous experience with operating a licensed home and trauma-informed practice.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and clean driver's abstract with a reliable, safe vehicle that has appropriate insurance.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid, WHMIS, and Food Hygiene and Sanitation certificates (or ability to obtain within probation period).
  • Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate and/or MANDT and Conflict Resolution Certificate (or ability to obtain within probation period).
  • Physician's note confirming suitability, including immunization records and a negative tuberculosis screening test.
  • Positive behavior supports experience.
