Academic Position in Sustainable Animal Production Systems

The University of Saskatchewan invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor tenure-track position in sustainable animal production systems. This is an exciting opportunity to join a strong, well-established multidisciplinary academic and research team with expertise in nonruminant and ruminant nutrition, animal metabolism, nutritional physiology, livestock genomics and molecular genetics, feed processing, animal management, animal welfare, and toxicology.
Key Responsibilities- Develop an innovative, nationally- and internationally-recognized independent research program including multidisciplinary and collaborative aspects that will contribute to the research strengths of the Department of Animal and Poultry Science.
- Focus on sustainable animal production systems, with research including aspects of feeding and resource management, nutrient cycling, impacts of animal production on air and water quality, and mitigation strategies such as precision management and use of digital agriculture for reducing the environmental impacts of animal production systems.
- Teach and mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including the development of new interdisciplinary and multi-species senior undergraduate and graduate courses in the sustainability of animal production systems.
- Contribute to administrative roles within the Department, including serving on various important committees.
- Ph.D. in animal science or a closely related field.
- Excellent research and teaching skills, with a strong track record of securing extramural funding.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
