Tenure-Track Professor in Sustainable Livestock Production

About the Position
The University of Saskatchewan's College of Agriculture and Bioresources invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in sustainable animal production systems. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary academic and research team with expertise in nonruminant and ruminant nutrition, animal metabolism, nutritional physiology, livestock genomics and molecular genetics, feed processing, animal management, animal welfare, and toxicology.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop an innovative, nationally- and internationally-recognized independent research program in sustainable animal production systems, including aspects of feeding and resource management, nutrient cycling, impacts of animal production on air and water quality, and mitigation strategies such as precision management and use of digital agriculture.
- Conduct research that contributes to the research strengths of the Department of Animal and Poultry Science and the College of Agriculture and Bioresources.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in animal production systems, including both ruminant and nonruminant species, and develop new interdisciplinary and multi-species senior undergraduate and graduate courses in the sustainability of animal production systems.
- Engage with various animal industry sectors through collaborative research and outreach activities that provide significant benefits to those sectors.
- Contribute to administrative roles within the Department, including serving on various important committees.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in animal science or a closely related field.
- Experience in developing and securing extramural funding for research projects.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience in teaching and mentoring students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
