Job Summary

As a key member of the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) Quality and Safety portfolio, the Safety Consultant plays a crucial role in protecting, promoting, and maintaining the health and safety of patients and staff. The incumbent is responsible for applying safety practices and standards, implementing the SHA Management System, and ensuring consistent application of patient and staff safety legislation, regulations, and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safety programs and initiatives to promote a culture of safety within the organization
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address safety concerns and risks
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and standards
  • Provide training and education to staff on safety procedures and protocols
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety and quality improvement, with experience in developing and implementing safety programs and initiatives. The incumbent must be able to work effectively with staff, leaders, and physicians to integrate best practices and standards.
