Netflix, a world-renowned entertainment platform with millions of subscribers globally, seeks a strategic and experienced Director of Public Policy to lead our policy engagement efforts in Canada.

As part of the Public Policy team, this role will be instrumental in advocating for Netflix's interests with policymakers and cultivating key partnerships within the organization. The Director will oversee policy development initiatives at both the national and provincial levels, ensuring alignment with Netflix's content creation and production ecosystem.

Reporting to the Vice President of Public Policy for UCAN, this Toronto-based position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of entertainment policy in Canada.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure public policy initiatives effectively support business objectives.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to advance Netflix's interests within the Canadian market.
  • Monitor and actively influence legislative and regulatory developments that impact our operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials and industry peers.
  • Identify emerging global trends and business opportunities relevant to the policy team.
  • Lead Netflix's approach across diverse policy areas, including cultural regulations, privacy, competition, intellectual property, and more.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in legal, public policy, and advocacy roles.
  • Proven track record of engagement with regulatory and legislative bodies.
  • Experience gained within government agencies, private sector organizations, studios, or policy-focused institutions.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field or a strong legal background (French language skills are highly desirable).
