Role Summary

The Senior Health Policy Analyst, under the guidance of the Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives, is responsible for spearheading the development and evaluation of policies that enhance cultural safety, promote reconciliation, and combat anti-Indigenous racism within the healthcare landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain high-level partnerships with governmental bodies that influence the health services available to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis populations.
  • Stay informed on legislative changes and public health policies that impact the well-being of Indigenous communities.
  • Collaborate with CAMH's executive leadership to assemble experts, formulate policies, and integrate external insights to benefit Shkaabe Makwa and CAMH.
  • Support the assessment of existing CAMH policies, ensuring alignment with principles of cultural safety, anti-Indigenous racism, and reconciliation across various policy committees.
  • Engage in operational tasks such as the timely evaluation and modification of policies and procedures, stakeholder consultations, and the creation of tools for policy assessments.
  • Lead policy formulation efforts that advocate for the interests of Shkaabe Makwa.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be First Nations, Inuit, or Métis, possessing a Master's degree in health, public policy, social services, community development, planning, or public health, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience. A deep understanding of the traditions, cultures, and values of Indigenous peoples is crucial, as is expertise in trauma-informed care, policy analysis, and partnership development with Indigenous organizations.

Experience in the analysis and promotion of policies that enhance cultural safety and wellness for Indigenous communities is essential, along with the capability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and travel as necessary.
