About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Associate to join our Employment and Labour Law team at KPMG Canada. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our clients and contributing to the growth and success of our practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of employment and labour law issues to develop a deep understanding of the law.
  • Assist in all stages of files, including intake, drafting, researching, conducting discoveries, attending motions, negotiating, advocating at mediations, and participating in trials.
  • Provide advice on a wide range of employment issues, with support and supervision from Senior Associates and Partners.
  • Identify legal issues, research and analyze complex situations quickly, and develop practical solutions.
  • Develop strong working relationships with various stakeholders and work effectively with outside counsel.
  • Write briefs on regulations, legal/compliance matters, and other ad hoc legal issues.
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced lawyers to address complex employment and labour issues.
Requirements
  • Junior Associate, called to the Bar in 2024 and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Interest in practicing Employment and Labour Law.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Legal writing skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
