Position Overview:

As a Lead Water Treatment Engineer at Integrated Sustainability, you will engage in multifaceted projects that integrate various engineering disciplines to provide innovative and sustainable solutions for our clientele. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage teams and projects of varying sizes with a focus on water, waste, and energy.
  • Conduct thorough data characterization and analysis.
  • Execute feasibility studies, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs across diverse technical environments.
  • Oversee construction management and system optimization to fulfill client specifications.
  • Perform water/wastewater chemistry evaluations and chemical modeling to determine treatment needs for various applications.
  • Cultivate essential relationships with clients, technical personnel, government officials, and technology providers.
  • Mentor junior technical and field personnel.
  • Design and retrofit water/wastewater systems and facilities for both industrial and municipal applications.
  • Size control valves (CVs) and Pressure Safety Valves (PSVs).
  • Conduct hydraulic analysis, process modeling, and optimization for equipment sizing, including pumps and pressure vessels.
  • Lead the preliminary and detailed design of process and water treatment facilities in Canada and beyond.
  • Carry out process optimization studies utilizing VMG Sim Software and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Supervise procurement, fabrication, and construction of water and wastewater systems.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering regulations and industry standards (API, ASME) relevant to the field.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline such as water/wastewater treatment, aqueous chemistry, or process/mechanical engineering is advantageous.
  • Over 10 years of applicable process engineering experience in North American industrial water treatment, oil and gas, mining, or similar sectors.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Requirements:

  • Registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and/or Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC); experience with U.S. regulatory bodies is a plus.
  • Strong English communication skills, with a background in preparing and reviewing technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication abilities, along with business development and client engagement skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the roles of various disciplines in the design process.
  • Capacity to work independently to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience in managing the fabrication and construction of water treatment systems is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with hard-rock mining water management, municipal and camp water/wastewater treatment, and other industrial applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of available water treatment technologies and methodologies for industrial and municipal recycling and reuse.
