Job Summary

Mackenzie Health is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team in the Hemodialysis department. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with complex care needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a workload effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and delegating responsibilities as needed.
  • Address and resolve issues in a productive, respectful manner, utilizing effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment, adhering to best practice guidelines and evidence-based nursing standards.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive environment for all, ensuring compliance with patient and staff safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Practical Nurse Diploma from an approved nursing program, with a preference for recent completion of a physical assessment course.
  • Current Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario, with a requirement for medication administration certification from an approved community college if graduated prior to 1995.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, with a preference for recent dialysis experience and 2-3 years' experience in acute medical/surgical or complex chronic care.
  • Proven clinical experience with patient-focused care, including strong patient assessment, care planning, patient education, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Member of the Registered Practical Nurses' Association of Ontario (RPNAO), with a preference for recent completion of Nephrology 1 and 2 courses.
  • Ability to participate in on-call for acute hemodialysis at Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill Hospital and other satellite sites, including Southlake.
  • Interest in working with acute and chronic patients in a hemodialysis environment, with a preference for the ability to speak a second language.
