Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Are you passionate about providing high-quality nursing care? We are looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge in a dynamic environment. This role is situated within the Emergency department, where you will play a crucial part in delivering compassionate care to patients in urgent need.
As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency and High Acuity care unit, you will work under the guidance of the Unit Manager. Your responsibilities will include providing direct nursing care in accordance with established protocols and standards. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions to meet the diverse needs of patients in a fast-paced setting. Your practice will be informed by the values and vision of Northern Health, as well as the BCCN&M Standards of Nursing Practice and Code of Ethics.
Emergency Department Education Program
The Northern Health Emergency Department Education Program is designed to equip nurses with the essential skills and knowledge required for effective emergency care. This program combines an evidence-based online curriculum with practical skills training and clinical placements, ensuring that participants are well-prepared to deliver safe and competent care.
- Gain foundational knowledge in emergency nursing practices.
- Develop specialized skills necessary for individualized patient care.
- Foster professionalism within the field of emergency nursing.
- Four training positions are available for the upcoming training cycle.
- Support for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses will be provided as needed.
- Successful candidates may need to complete prerequisite courses independently before starting the program.
- Commitment to a four-month educational program, including both online and in-person components.
- Flexibility for clinical placements is essential.
- Prior experience in acute care settings is preferred.
- Current BLS certification is required prior to participation in skills training.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have completed an ECG course.
- Completion of the education program is mandatory before working in the department.
- Upon successful completion, an eighteen-month return of service in a relevant nursing position is required.
- Qualified applicants will be prioritized for specialty roles.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:00

Application Requirements:
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
- Registration number for regulated professions.
- Supporting documents for education and qualifications.
- Program certificates or diplomas.
- Transcripts from educational institutions.
- A cover letter and resume are recommended.
- Active registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN.
- Current Level C CPR certification; ACLS and CTAS certifications required within twelve months of hire.
- Willingness to enroll in a post-graduate Critical Care or Emergency Department Course.
- Commitment to complete in-house certification courses as necessary.
