Position: Fresh Food Deli Counter Manager

Dunnes Stores stands as a premier retailer in Ireland, recognized for its innovative approach to food and fashion retailing. With a presence in Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Spain, we are continuously enhancing our service and product offerings.

In recent years, we have successfully launched a series of modern fresh food delis across Ireland, with plans to expand further in the upcoming year, introducing additional Dunnes Stores Market Delis nationwide. Our Market Deli brand is designed to provide a broader selection of products at competitive prices, all while ensuring superior customer service and expertise.

We are seeking to recruit and develop a number of fresh food managers to oversee our fresh food counters. Our ideal candidates will possess exceptional product knowledge, deliver outstanding customer service, and have a genuine passion for fresh food and retail. The primary responsibility of the fresh food manager is to oversee the fresh food counter, ensuring the provision of exceptional customer care and operational excellence to maximize sales and profitability while controlling costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Store Management to uphold the highest standards of food preparation, merchandising, and customer service.
  • Lead, train, and nurture the team in alignment with the Brand’s objectives, delivering the agreed business strategy and customer service program.
  • Implement and monitor the rigorous HACCP standards within our fresh food counters to ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality regulations, while developing an effective cleaning schedule.
  • Manage daily product orders with approved suppliers in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Analyze and address any fluctuations in the department's cost base on a weekly basis.
  • Achieve the budgeted KPI targets for the department and provide accurate forecasts.
  • Enhance sales by analyzing sales data, department trading patterns, and anticipating customer needs.
  • Ensure products are prepared according to established procedures.
  • Train on and implement departmental brand standards.
  • Coach the team to be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sales, product availability, stock control, merchandising, pricing, inventory, hygiene, and customer service.
  • Ensure timely implementation of all process and business changes as required.
  • Adhere to and ensure team compliance with specifications, standards, and procedures, including all relevant safety and legal policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Continuously seek innovative ideas both within and outside the business.
  • Provide feedback to senior management regarding performance, key customer service developments, and operational challenges.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in a fresh food or fast-paced retail environment is preferred.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Ability to follow established recipe cards and procedures.
  • Trained in HACCP with a thorough understanding of Food Safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Flexible and capable of working both collaboratively and independently.
  • Passionate about food production and presentation.
  • Commercially minded with appropriate product knowledge.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective merchandising skills.
  • Proficient in people management.
