Role Overview:

We are seeking a driven Director of Finance Data to become part of the Financial Systems Team in Toronto. Reporting to the Vice President of Financial Systems, this position is responsible for developing and executing the data strategy, governance, and program for Oxford Properties, encompassing Financial Data and related Operational Tenancy Data, in collaboration with Business, Finance, and Enterprise Data and Technology teams.

We believe in the importance of in-person collaboration at OMERS and Oxford, and our flexible hybrid work policy encourages teams to be present in the office 3-4 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the achievement of Finance strategic goals and business value through the formulation of a comprehensive data strategy, roadmap, and implementation plan aligned with Finance Systems, Data & Advanced Analytics, and Enterprise Architecture.
  • Lead the development and ongoing enhancement of data governance principles and practices in collaboration with the OMERS Enterprise Information and Data Governance team.
  • Establish and enforce policies for Finance data management, including data capture, storage, processing, integration, usage, and disposal, as well as data classification, privacy, and compliance.
  • Define and coordinate the roles of data owners, stewards, technical custodians, and users for both internally generated and externally sourced data.
  • Oversee the sourcing and establishment of Finance data sets and models to leverage advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities.
  • Design a scalable and secure Azure data hub that aligns with Oxford's data strategy.
  • Lead data-driven components of new ERP implementations, ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with IT, business unit leaders, finance leaders, and external partners to advance data-related initiatives.
  • Contribute to the assessment and continuous improvement of data integration between systems to ensure efficient and effective data flow.
  • Develop reporting requirements for data compliance and governance health metrics.
  • Cultivate relationships with data users and stakeholders across OMERS and Oxford.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and their relevance to Oxford.
  • Inspire and lead a team of 4, fostering skill development and alignment with OMERS/Oxford values and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience in a similar Finance data role.
  • Expertise in data governance, architecture, modeling, and operations within complex, global organizations.
  • Strong technical experience and knowledge of analytics for real estate applications.
  • Understanding of ethical and legal considerations related to data usage, privacy, security, and compliance.
  • Familiarity with big data concepts and technologies.
  • Experience with business architecture, data integration, and automation tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft technology stack, particularly Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Data Bricks, Machine Learning, SQL, PowerBI, and Power Platform.
  • Experience with Data Cataloging/Metadata Management and Data Integration & Quality tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Statistics; CFA, CPA, and/or MBA preferred.
