The Payments Specialist is an integral part of the Money Transfer Operations team, responsible for ensuring that business strategies and initiatives are executed in alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Global Transaction Services (GTS) serves as the transaction and payment backbone of Scotiabank, offering comprehensive treasury management solutions to Small Business, Commercial, and Corporate clients. Our aim is to facilitate seamless business transactions while providing top-tier service.
As businesses evolve their digital infrastructures, their payment requirements also change. GTS provides a robust suite of innovative banking solutions designed to enhance operational efficiency, streamline payment processes, optimize working capital, and mitigate financial risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a customer-centric culture within the team to strengthen client relationships and leverage the broader organizational knowledge.
- Ensure timely and accurate verification of wire payment instructions, whether received electronically or manually, while possessing a thorough understanding of wire payment formatting.
- Actively engage in process enhancements and quality assurance initiatives for continuous improvement.
- Efficiently manage daily workflows and contribute to all payment queues to expedite transaction execution.
- Identify and clarify inconsistencies or operator errors, contributing to the establishment of best practices to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Incorporate the Bank's risk appetite and culture into daily operations and decision-making processes.
- Promote an environment that prioritizes effective operations while adhering to business controls related to operational risk, regulatory compliance, and conduct risk.
- Develop a high-performance team by implementing strategies that attract, retain, and nurture talent in an inclusive work environment.
Qualifications:
- Proficient understanding of the bank's operational and administrative processes to address daily challenges efficiently.
- Knowledge of payment regulations, particularly concerning international and domestic wire transfers.
- Strong communication skills, both clear and concise.
