Job Title: Human Resources Generalist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team at the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for providing strategic HR support to our organization, ensuring that our HR practices and policies align with our mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer staff consultation and grievance procedures to ensure a fair and respectful work environment.
  • Coordinate the activities of the HR department to ensure they meet the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Direct and control daily operations, including supervising staff and managing HR programs.
  • Evaluate daily operations to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
  • Motivate staff to achieve their full potential and contribute to the organization's success.
  • Plan and organize daily operations, including developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate human resources policies and programs to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Review HR projects to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Train staff on HR policies and procedures to ensure they are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
  • Advise managers and employees on the interpretation of human resources policies, benefit programs, and collective agreements.
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures to ensure a fair and respectful work environment.
  • Plan, develop, and implement recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Research and prepare occupational classifications, job descriptions, and salary scales to ensure fairness and equity.
  • Administer benefit employment equity and other human resources programs to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Manage contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Co-ordinate employee performance and appraisal programs to ensure staff are held accountable for their performance.
  • Manage training and development strategies to ensure staff have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
  • Oversee the analysis of employee data and information to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Research employee benefits and health and safety practices to recommend changes and improvements.
  • Oversee the development of communication strategies to ensure effective communication with staff and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the preparation of reports to ensure accurate and timely information is provided to stakeholders.
  • Advise senior management on HR-related matters to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Respond to employee questions and complaints in a fair and respectful manner.
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff to ensure they are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
  • Liaise with management, union officials, and HR consultants to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Organize staff consultation and grievance procedures to ensure a fair and respectful work environment.
  • Provide customer service to staff and stakeholders to ensure a positive and respectful experience.
  • Recruit and hire staff to ensure the organization has the talent and skills needed to achieve its goals and objectives.
  • Manage knowledge and information to ensure accurate and timely information is provided to stakeholders.
  • Coach and develop staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
  • Conduct performance reviews to ensure staff are held accountable for their performance.
  • Propose improvements to methods, systems, and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Evaluate work environments, programs, and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury.
