Role Responsibilities:

The Laundry Services Associate, reporting to the Support Services Manager or designated representative, is responsible for delivering laundry services to residents and guests in alignment with established community policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all.

Key Duties Include:

  • Processing linens, drapes, and personal clothing for residents, including collection and distribution to designated areas.
  • Restocking cupboards with clean linens according to established quotas.
  • Washing, drying, sorting, folding, and hanging items as required.
  • Utilizing labeling equipment to accurately label and re-label residents' clothing.
  • Operating and maintaining laundry equipment, including washers and dryers, following established guidelines.
  • Ensuring a safe environment for residents, families, and staff through:
    • Accident prevention measures.
    • Knowledge of emergency procedures and regulations.
    • Safe use of supplies and equipment, reporting necessary repairs.
    • Maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
    • Adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Recommending orders for cleaning chemicals and facility linens.
  • Participating in the orientation of new staff and engaging in community education programs.
  • Being cross-trained to assist in other support service areas as needed.
  • Collaborating positively with team members and supervisors.
  • Performing additional related duties as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Completion of Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • WHMIS Certification.
  • First Aid Certification as applicable.
  • Food Safe Certification is an asset.
  • All successful candidates must pass a vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check in accordance with provincial guidelines.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, with the ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be in good health and physically capable of performing related tasks, free from communicable diseases and allergies that may be exacerbated by working with cleaning agents and equipment.
