The Nursing Resource Team (NRT) consists of specially trained nursing professionals who provide care across various clinical settings in response to staffing needs due to short-term absences or fluctuations in patient acuity and volume.
The NRT comprises Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) assigned to inpatient units at Halton Healthcare facilities. Team members have the opportunity to receive training in specialized areas such as Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), and Post-partum care as required.
As a Registered Nurse within the Nursing Resource Team, your primary responsibility will be to implement the nursing process in delivering patient care across diverse clinical environments. You will be accountable for all aspects of the nursing process, which includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care tailored to individual patient needs. Your role will also involve coordinating care that emphasizes patient transitions, providing education to patients and families, and addressing factors that enhance patient satisfaction. You will administer medications and perform procedures in accordance with established protocols and guidelines. Additionally, you will document patient observations, assessments, and any changes in their condition, collaborating with the healthcare team to promote positive patient outcomes while delivering comprehensive nursing care.
Qualifications

- Active registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification at the time of hire
- Recent experience in acute care settings is preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Compassionate approach towards patients, families, and colleagues
- Physical capability to perform tasks that involve significant lifting and physical exertion
- Strong physical assessment skills are essential (preference will be given to candidates who have completed a physical assessment course)
- Excellent critical thinking abilities, with a capacity to prioritize and function effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Satisfactory employment and attendance history
Note: If this position is not filled by an internal candidate, New Graduate Nurses may be considered if they meet the following criteria:
- Eligibility under the New Graduate Initiative through Health Force Ontario
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Bachelor of Nursing (BN) program within the past year
- Successful completion of the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNRE or NCLEX-RN) is preferred
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or in progress
- Current BCLS certification
- Recent nursing experience in acute care settings through clinical placements
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
