Become a Registered Nurse with Halton Healthcare
We are seeking dedicated and motivated individuals to join our Registered Nurse Learner Program. This unique opportunity allows you to gain valuable hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced preceptors at any of our hospital sites.
As a Registered Nurse Learner, you will be partnered with a highly skilled preceptor who will provide mentorship and support throughout your learning journey. Upon successful completion of your practice hours and subsequent registration with the CNO in the RN category, you will have the opportunity to transition into a full-time Registered Nurse position on our Nursing Resource Team.
The Nursing Resource Team (NRT)
The NRT is a dynamic group of uniquely trained nurses who provide flexible support across various clinical areas. Responding to short-term absences, changes in acuity, or volume fluctuations, the NRT plays a vital role in ensuring seamless patient care.
NRT members have the opportunity to gain experience in diverse specialty areas such as ICU, ED, and Postpartum. This exposure to various clinical settings will offer you a comprehensive learning experience and enhance your nursing skills.
Qualifications
- Registered in the non-practicing Registered Nurse (RN) class
- SPE approved by the CNO before commencing the experience
- Hold professional liability protection according to the CNO's by-laws
- Practice under the supervision of a nurse in the appropriate category or class of registration
- Successfully complete the program within 6 months
- Successfully complete a minimum of 140 hours where you will apply your nursing knowledge, skill and judgement and demonstrate an understanding of your nursing accountabilities (CNO practice standards).
- Be available to work in an inpatient unit at any of our hospital sites.
Upon completion of your supervised practice experience with an assigned preceptor, you will be evaluated using a CNO-approved tool. This evaluation confirms that you have met the program requirements at the end of your practice experience.
