Position Overview:

The Electrical Superintendent, reporting directly to the Project Manager, plays a pivotal role in overseeing and directing construction activities within the Electrical division. This position requires collaboration with various trades and demands extensive experience in substantial construction projects, particularly in Water and Wastewater Treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of NAC's Health, Safety, and Environment policies, ensuring adherence to the HSE Manual's guidelines.
  • Foster a positive work environment by cultivating strong relationships with the site team, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain expertise in your trade, ensuring accountability for project outcomes and clarity in required tasks.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of project estimates, material, and labor cost codes, and work closely with the Project Superintendent and Trade Operations Manager to meet or exceed these codes.
  • Assist the Project Superintendent by providing weekly planning aids to facilitate effective planning meetings.
  • Manage and authorize timesheets for project personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with the collective agreement and NAC's policies and procedures.
  • Offer specialized technical guidance to the project management team regarding RFIs, RFS, CRX, commissioning plans, and requisitions, maintaining a field-focused approach.
  • Interpret and uphold NAC's contractual obligations within your area of responsibility, ensuring adherence to the project-specific Quality Plan.
  • Provide ongoing performance evaluations to your team, offering coaching and disciplinary actions as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Valid trade certification with 3-5 years of experience as an electrical superintendent on relevant heavy construction projects, particularly in WTPs and/or WWTPs.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and civil trades alongside electrical expertise.
  • Experience in Project Management is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Proven ability to lead and evaluate trade performance on-site.
  • Skilled in identifying issues, assessing potential causes, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Results-driven with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Current WHMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform, and Fall Arrest certifications are mandatory.
