Description:

The Regional Desk Officer will define the vision and strategic direction for WES' presence in key international regions and markets. This position necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the educational landscape within a designated area and a strong commitment to advancing WES' global initiatives in higher education. The Regional Desk Officer is instrumental in executing the in-country strategy by overseeing activities, programs, and partnerships within a specific geographic area.

This role will engage both internal and external stakeholders to enhance WES' influence in global higher education programs and institutions. The ideal candidate will possess the expertise to discern where WES can effectively contribute to discussions and where it should observe trends in alignment with our organizational goals and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement the strategy to establish WES' presence in priority regions and countries.
  2. Identify and cultivate a network of essential partnerships with educational institutions, governmental bodies, and NGOs to promote collaboration and resource sharing.
  3. Act as WES' primary resource for educational advancements in assigned regions.
  4. Track market trends and developments in education systems and qualifications within the designated area.
  5. Submit proposals for conferences and initiatives to enhance WES' visibility and impact.
  6. Represent WES at global conferences, seminars, webinars, and other relevant events.
  7. Conduct research and analyze educational developments to provide insights and recommendations for WES' services and opportunities.
  8. Utilize WES data to create impactful content for external communications and publications.
  9. Coordinate visits for senior staff by organizing engagements and meetings to ensure effective interactions.
  10. Oversee the creation of country profiles detailing key features of education systems, including data analysis on credentials and outcomes.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of regional experience (China or Philippines) or a Master's degree/PhD with 5+ years of regional experience.
  2. Fluency in at least one language relevant to the region of expertise – Mandarin.
  3. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in Mandarin.
  4. Strong presentation abilities.
  5. Proficient research and data analysis skills.
  6. Effective critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  7. Sound judgment in strategy formulation and execution.
  8. Willingness to travel internationally 1-2 times annually.

  1. Expertise in higher education within a priority country/region where WES aims to expand its presence.
  2. Able to build and maintain strategic relationships.
  3. Cultural competency to effectively engage with influencers in the region.
  4. Ability to work independently and guide WES in establishing a presence in new regions.
  5. Political awareness and understanding of the assigned regions.
  6. Demonstrates an innovative mindset in strategy development and implementation.
