Psychiatry Medical Science Liaison

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Science Liaison specializing in Psychiatry to enhance our Medical and Regulatory Affairs team. This role is designed to support the territory of Ontario and Manitoba.

Role Overview:

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a scientific authority in the field, driving the regional medical strategy for both established and emerging products. The MSL is responsible for building and nurturing relationships with Canadian Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), and other relevant stakeholders by providing unbiased scientific information, engaging in meaningful discussions, and gathering insights into disease management and unmet medical needs. Furthermore, the MSL communicates valuable insights and scientific knowledge back to internal teams to inform strategic development.

Commitment to Patient Safety:

The MSL is required to promptly report any adverse events or special situations related to our products, as well as any product complaints, in accordance with established procedures.

Engagement with Healthcare Professionals and External Stakeholders (70%):

  • Aligns with the Medical department strategy that supports brand objectives;
  • Collaborates with KOLs, HCPs, professional organizations, and other stakeholders to gather insights on disease management and clinical data;
  • May initiate discussions regarding scientific, medical, and clinical information related to Lundbeck products, responding to unsolicited inquiries for off-label information;
  • Identifies and develops educational opportunities for HCPs and stakeholders in key therapeutic areas;
  • Establishes scientific partnerships with HCPs and stakeholders in shared strategic interests;
  • Delivers scientifically balanced presentations to influential groups, including key HCPs and P&T committees; identifies opportunities for KOL engagement and recommends experts for participation in medical activities.

The MSL will cultivate expertise in new products and portfolios ahead of the commercial team. They may also conduct strategic activities pre- and post-launch to establish the clinical value of new products in line with the medical plan. The MSL will work closely with the Medical Affairs Manager to strengthen the scientific foundation for global brand strategy by:

  • Engaging KOLs to enhance knowledge in critical disease areas relevant to new products;
  • Identifying and fostering relationships with new KOLs and stakeholders who share strategic interests.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams (30%):

  • Collaborates with field teams;
  • Provides medical leadership for key business initiatives across departments;
  • Works with the medical affairs manager and/or associate medical advisor to identify potential clinical investigators for research programs;
  • Shares data at regional consultation meetings;
  • Partners with medical head office, clinical research organizations (CROs), and research site personnel to support local research activities;
  • Delivers scientific training to enhance the scientific capabilities of the Lundbeck sales team;
  • Supports Market Access initiatives by providing credible scientific knowledge to payers to maximize the potential of Lundbeck's product portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • MD, PharmD, Ph.D., or Master's degree in a relevant scientific field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as an MSL in the Canadian pharmaceutical sector.
  • Previous experience in medical affairs is advantageous.
  • Scientific expertise in psychiatry or neuroscience is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional communication skills are essential.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations is required.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written); proficiency in French is a strong asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
