Title: Regional Desk Officer

Description:

The Regional Desk Officer is responsible for shaping the vision and strategic direction of WES' presence in key international regions and markets. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of the educational landscape within a designated area and a strong dedication to facilitating WES' global growth in international higher education. The Regional Desk Officer is crucial in executing the in-country strategy by overseeing activities, programs, and partnerships within a specific geographic area.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement strategies to establish WES' presence in priority regions and countries.
  2. Identify and cultivate a network of strategic partnerships with educational institutions, governmental bodies, and NGOs to enhance collaboration and resource sharing.
  3. Act as the primary resource for educational advancements in the assigned region(s).
  4. Monitor and analyze trends in education systems and qualifications within the designated area.
  5. Prepare and submit proposals for conferences and initiatives to elevate WES' visibility and impact.
  6. Represent WES at global conferences, seminars, webinars, and other external engagements.
  7. Conduct research and analyze educational developments to provide insights and recommendations for WES' services and opportunities.
  8. Utilize WES data to create impactful content for external communications and publications.
  9. Coordinate visits for senior staff by organizing in-country engagements and meetings for productive outcomes.
  10. Oversee the creation of country profiles detailing key features of education systems, including data analysis on credentials and outcomes.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of regional experience (China or Philippines) or a Master's degree/PhD with 5+ years of regional experience.
  2. Fluency in at least one language relevant to the region of expertise – Mandarin.
  3. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in Mandarin.
  4. Strong presentation capabilities.
  5. Proficient research and data analysis skills.
  6. Effective critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  7. Sound judgment in strategic decision-making.
  8. Willingness to travel internationally 1-2 times per year.

  2. Able to build and maintain strategic relationships.
  3. Cultural competency to effectively engage with influencers in the region.
  4. Capable of working independently to establish WES' presence in new regions.

  6. Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset in strategy development and implementation.
