Job Title: Privacy and Access Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Privacy and Access Analyst to join our team at PACC-CCAP - Privacy and Access Council of Canada. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the protection of personal information and maintaining compliance with relevant legislation.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for operationalizing and facilitating our privacy management program, supporting Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and regulations. You will work closely with data owners across multiple teams to identify opportunities to improve processes related to the collection, processing, storage, and disclosure of personal information.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and implement privacy compliance programs.
  • Educate internal stakeholders on awareness of privacy trends and changes in technology use and privacy legislation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on programs and projects involving the handling and sharing of information.
  • Escalate to the Privacy Office and work with stakeholders to define protection goals and apply them with business process owners.
  • Analyze and propose development of organization-wide privacy policies and procedures.
  • Ensure clarity on FOI requests and design college-wide processes and training for tracking and responding to requests.
  • Manage and respond to FOI requests, including conducting redaction of records.
  • Collaborate with staff, IT security, and IM risk assessment to maintain organizational compliance with provincial laws.
  • Complete privacy impact assessments (PIAs), support risk assessments, and conduct ongoing compliance monitoring activities.
  • Provide effective and timely response to privacy breaches in accordance with our privacy breach incident response plan.
Requirements:
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in a privacy and access to information role, including successful implementation and management of cross-functional privacy projects/programs.
  • Certification as an Information Privacy Professional (CIPM, CIPP/C, or CIPT) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of BC's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Health Professions Act.
  • Experience completing PIAs and developing related processes.
  • Understanding of common privacy industry standards and regulations and experience with industry frameworks.
  • Experience working on privacy-focused projects such as Privacy-by-Design and privacy-enhancing technologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders about privacy requirements and processes.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills, collaboration, and critical thinking/problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency using MS Office suite, including Visio. Working-level knowledge of MS CRM Dynamics and MS SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing technologies and its impact on data privacy.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
