Information and Privacy Specialist

Join the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) team as an Information and Privacy Coordinator, supporting the administration of access to information and protection of privacy programs under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
About the RoleThis temporary, full-time position reports to the Deputy Corporate Officer and is responsible for ensuring the TNRD's records and information are managed effectively and in compliance with all legislative requirements and best practices. The successful candidate will provide general ongoing administrative support to the Corporate and Legislative Services department.
Key Responsibilities- Administer privacy and access to information programs and policies to ensure compliance with FIPPA legislation
- Administer policies, processes, and controls related to the appropriate collection, retention, access, use, and disclosure of corporate and personal information
- Provide information to staff and elected officials on privacy and FIPPA compliance matters
- Process Freedom of Information (FOI) requests
- Support Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA)
- Support the creation, maintenance, and retention of official corporate records
- Provide advice and guidance to all TNRD departments on the records management program
- Support the migration of the TNRD's corporate records to an electronic document records management system
