Position Overview

Are you a dependable and skilled Tack Truck Operator? Do you have a passion for travel and exploring the beauty of Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories? We are seeking a Tack Truck Operator to join our mobile team.

This position involves operating the Tack Truck to apply various asphalt-based tack coats prior to paving operations, ensuring optimal adhesion of asphalt to the road surface.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of proper machine startup, operation, and shutdown procedures.
  • Safely and efficiently operate the distributor.
  • Follow supervisor instructions regarding work areas and emulsion distribution rates.
  • Manage the filling of asphalt and burner fuel tanks, set up spray bars, and clean excess asphalt from tanks.
  • Conduct daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and ensure mechanical fitness.
  • Collaborate with the asphalt paving crew when the distributor is not in use.
  • Perform other related construction labor duties as required.
Qualifications | Requirements
  • High School diploma or G.E.D preferred.
  • Class 5 driver's license is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the road construction sector.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience operating a Tack Truck is essential.
Working Conditions
  • Work schedule typically consists of 6 days on and 1 day off, subject to weather conditions. Overtime is compensated according to applicable employment standards.
  • Willingness to work in out-of-town and remote locations is necessary. Accommodations and Live Out Allowance are provided in most cases.
  • Work is conducted outdoors, which may involve exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, and dust.
  • Physical capability to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS is required.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment is mandatory.
  • Recommendations include the use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear.
  • Compliance with the company's drug and alcohol testing policies is required.
