Job Summary

FortisBC is seeking a highly skilled Relief System Operator to join our System Control Centre (SCC) Operating team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for relieving the System Operator and performing duties normally carried out by a lower classification employee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Learn and perform the duties of the System Operator, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our electricity grid.
  • Perform tasks and responsibilities as assigned by staff supervisors or delegates, including shift work as per established schedules.
Requirements
  • NERC certification and a strong understanding of electrical power grid operations.
  • Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and handle stress during emergencies.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to deal courteously with the public and work cooperatively with fellow employees.
  • Potential to progress to higher classification in the Control Centre, with opportunities for career growth and development.
