Job Title: Relief System Operator

A Relief System Operator plays a critical role at FortisBC as a member of the System Control Centre (SCC) Operating team. This position requires the incumbent to relieve the System Operator and perform duties normally carried out by a lower classification employee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform the duties of the System Operator.
  • Perform duties normally carried out by a lower classification employee.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • NERC certification
  • Diploma in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology program
  • Capable of exercising good judgment and handling the stress of the operating job, especially during emergencies.
  • Able to deal courteously with the public via telephone and work cooperatively with fellow employees.

Additional Information

Once fully trained, the Relief System Operator will be paid at the System Operator rate. This role has on-call/standby requirements based on operational needs. The successful candidate must adhere to the residency requirements of this position. This role has overtime requirements based on operational needs.
